Many years' experience

Metacor was founded in 1977 in a small shop in Montreal, to deliver on the promise of fabricating custom steel parts and components exactly to customers' specifications. The company started with only eight employees, and stood out from others in the field by rejecting the mass-production route. It proved to be the right choice: by the end of its first year of operation, Metacor had already outgrown its premises and moved into a new 15,000 ft² space.

Metacor looks south

By 1987, Metacor had become a victim of its own success. The company didn't have enough space to meet its customers' growing demand for custom products. It had to find another plant! The new facilities in Repentigny were much better equipped, and now Metacor was ready to launch a new chapter in its history: conquering the U.S. market.

Wind in its sails

The new market development strategy was a definite success. By 2002, Metacor couldn't keep up with demand, and had to expand once again. The company purchased a new building and more top-quality equipment. Its combined facilities now measured over 80,000 ft².

Expansion backed up by certifications and prestigious affiliations

While it was busy expanding, Metacor also earned ASME certification, along with ISO 9001 certification for its quality management system.

Making a name for itself outside of Canada

Over the years, Metacor International has become a major player in steel fabrication across North America. The company can now boast some of the world's most prestigious firms as customers.

Facilities to make the company more competitive

What did Metacor International do to make sure it could deliver its oversize, fabricated and assembled parts to customers as quickly and efficiently as possible? It built a plant right on the site of the Port of Valleyfield, so as to transport materials by barge. This strategy has many advantages: direct access to the  Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway (better known as the H2O Highway), greater efficiency, lower costs and, of course, substantially larger manufacturing facilities. Metacor now has over 100,000 ft² of space to meet its customers' needs.

That's what sets Metacor International apart!
